Rick Bald is an award winning sales and marketing pro with over 20+ years experience in the active outdoor and luxury lifestyle markets. He’s held executive and management positions at Bicycling, SRAM, WIRED, SKI, Skiing, Warren Miller Entertainment, Vail Resorts’ OnTheSnow.com, 2013 World Cyclocross Championships, GoPro Mountain Games, Audi Birds Of Prey Men’s World Cup, 2015 World Alpine Ski Championships, and Red Bull Media House.

The FCC Story

I grew up in Michigan. Luckily my parents were skiers. We skied the local hills of Northern Michigan every Winter and then when I was in middle school my dad took us out West. I will never forget seeing the front range of Colorado for the first time, I became obsessed with not only skiing but the active mountain lifestyle. After earning a degree in Advertising and Marketing, I looked for a job in Chicago but it was 1991 and times were tough. I had a lot of restaurant experience and each prospective employer said you can always get a job waiting tables until the economy gets better. After hearing that over 10 times, I decided they were right. However, if I was going to wait tables, I was going to ski every day! I packed up my ride and drove West, ending up in Aspen. For the next 3 years I taught, tech’d, bussed tables, cooked, roofed, landscaped in order to ski a 100 days a year. No matter what time I went to bed, on a powder day I was always up early to catch the first chair on Ajax (Silver Queen Gondy then). First Chair is all about doing what you love.
